Humankind, across all civilizations, has been asking the same philosophical questions since the beginning of time.
In this course, Laszlo Montgomery will explore the philosophy that came from China’s most renowned thinkers from pre-Confucian and Confucian times. A special focus will be on The Great Sage himself, Confucius, as well as those who followed in his wake such as Mengzi, Mozi and Xunzi.
Laszlo will explore the different philosophies of these Ru School thinkers, as well as their detractors. Laszlo will also show how Confucian Thought triumphed in the Han Dynasty (206 BCE to 220 CE) and how it became intertwined with the government bureaucracy for the next thousand years.
