Overview
In this course we will dive into the I Ching (Yi Jing) or Book of Changes, how it was used throughout the centuries and how people inside and outside of China use it in their daily lives.
We will also be introduced to Taoism and how it became a rival philosophy of Confucianism. We will meet Taoism’s two most famous teachers, Lao Tzu (Laozi) and Zhuangzi and their eponymous works.
We will also discuss the rise of Neo Confucianism during the Song and Ming Dynasties. And finally, we will meet the most important Neo Confucian philosophers such as The Five Founders, Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming and have a look into their philosophies.
